Rice will look to continue the momentum created by last Thursday's 65-58 win at Texas A&M this week as the Owls close out 2011 with a pair of games.

Now 8-4 on the year, Rice plays host to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Wednesday before playing at Texas Saturday afternoon. Wednesday night's game against the Islanders in Tudor Fieldhouse is set for a 7 p.m. tip-off will be broadcast by 1560 The Game (KGOW) while video will be streamed through RiceOwls.com and Rice All-Access.

Heading in Wednesday night's games, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi is 1-10 this season and has lost its last eight games.

Last week at the Las Vegas Classic, the Islanders had a 14-point halftime slip away as Kennesaw State came from behind to win 69-65. KSU converted 24-of-30 free throws in the second half en route to the victory.

Islander junior forward Myron Dempsey scored a career-high 20 points and had 10 rebounds in last week's game against Kennesaw State. Dempsey, one of two players on the Islander team to start all 11 games this season, raised his season averages to 8.5 points and a team-leading 7.9 rebounds per game.

Junior guard Terrence Jones averages 12.9 points an outing while senior wing Chris Hawkins-Mast averages 11.7 points and 5.5 rebounds for the Islanders.

Willis Wilson, who was the head coach at Rice from 1992-2008, is in his first season as the coach of the Islanders.

In last week's win over Texas A&M, Rice shot 47 percent from the field and outrebounded the Aggies 37-28.

For the year, Rice is outrebounding opponents by a +8.1 margin and the Owls are 8-0 this season when outrebounding their opponents.

Juniors Arsalan Kazemi and Tamir Jackson continue to lead the Owls in scoring while Kazemi is one of a handful of players in the nation to be averaging a double-double.

For the year, Kazemi is averaging 14.0 points and 12.3 rebounds and has recorded nine double-doubles during the season. Jackson is averaging 13.9 points and leads the team with 42 assists.

Freshman point guard Dylan Ennis is coming off his second nine-rebound effort. In addition to his nine boards, he scored six points against the Aggies. Ennis is averaging 7.7 points per game and his 4.5 rebounding average ranks second on the Rice squad.

In last week's games against Temple and Texas A&M, senior forward Lucas Kuipers registered back-to-back, double-figure scoring games raising his season average to 8.0 points an outing.

Following Wednesday night's game, the Owls close out nonconference play with consecutive road games. In addition to taking on Texas in Austin on Saturday, Rice plays at TCU on Jan. 4th.

Rice opens Conference USA play on Saturday, Jan. 7th by playing host to one of the league's preseason favorites, Marshall.
