HOUSTON, Texas - Rice University men's basketball hosts St. Edward's in its last game before taking a break from competition to focus on final exams. Tipoff at Tudor Fieldhouse is set for 7 p.m.
The Owls are hosting a Toy Drive benefitting Toys for Tots at the game as well. Fans that bring a new toy to the game will receive $5 off a future game ticket purchase. The first 300 fans to the game will receive a Santa Hat.

The Owls are in the midst of a three-game home stand as the squad fell in a tight 58-55 contest on Wednesday night against Houston Baptist. Seth Gearhart continued his scoring streak by leading the Owls with 17 points in the contest to bring his season average up to 14.7 points per game.
Marcus Jackson added a career-high eight rebounds to accompany 10 points in the game. The sophomore led Rice in assists for the fifth time in the team's seven games. Jackson ranks sixth in C-USA with 4.0 assists per game.
As a team, the Owls pace C-USA in free throw percentage (74.0) and three-pointers per game (7.4). Rice has committed fewer turnovers than its opponents in 4-of-7 games this season after doing so just five times in the 2013-14 campaign.
Scouting the Hilltoppers
St. Edward's brings a perfect 8-0 record to Tudor Fieldhouse on Saturday with an average margin of victory of 14.5 points.
The team played an exhibition on Thursday night at Incarnate Word in an 85-68 setback.
Frankie Mgbolu and Harley Nussman scored 16 points apiece in the effort, and Nussman tallied a double-double as he hauled in 10 rebounds as well.
All five starters score in double figures as the team notches 81.2 points per game. John Gramlich leads the group with 12.5 points on 46.9 percent shooting.
As a team, the Hilltoppers shoot 47.4 percent from the field and 53.7 percent from inside the three-point line.
Series History (Rice leads, 2-0)
The teams have faced each other twice, with both meetings in Houston.
Rice claimed a 106-48 win in 2002 and a 75-63 victory two seasons ago, in 2012.
Then a freshman, Max Guercy scored 17 points in the win, while Gearhart chipped in 15. The tallies marked career scoring highs for both players at the time.
After Saturday's game, the Owls have 12 days off before their next competition, Dec. 18 against St. Thomas in the final game of the home stand. That is also the team's last home non-conference game of the season.
Men's Basketball Tops St. Edward's, 75-63
A massive 22-2 run spanning both halves gave Rice University a comfortable lead as the Owls defeated St. Edward's, 75-63, on Wednesday night at Tudor Fieldhouse. Tamir Jackson notched his first career double-double with 12 points and a career-best 15 rebounds to lead the Owls (1-1). The senior only converted two field goal attempts on the night but sank 8-of-10 free throws to make up the difference. He added a pair of assists and two steals in 33 minutes.
