UT Arlington Uses Hot Shooting to Take Down Owls
UT Arlington shot 67.9% in the first half and never looked back, as Rice fell, 92-74, Sunday night at Tudor Fieldhouse.

HOUSTON — Rice goes back on the road this Wednesday, Nov. 29, when it travels to Arlington to face UT-Arlington. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT and the game will be livestreamed by ESPN3.

Scouting Rice
• Rice is 2-4 after defeating St. Thomas, 70-59, last Saturday night.
• Junior guard Connor Cashaw leads the team with 17.8 points, which is fifth in Conference USA while placing second on the team with 6.2 rebounds. He is also averaging 3.0 assists and is tied for ninth in the league with 2.2 three-pointers per game.
• Graduate guard A.J. Lapray is second on the team with 11.5 points. He is also second in C-USA in three-pointers per game (2.8) and is connecting on 44.7% from beyond the arc.
• Sophomore guard Ako Adams is averaging 10.0 points. He is pulling down 3.5 boards and is also seventh in the league in assists (4.7) and ninth in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.0).
• The Owls are averaging 68.8 points per game while allowing 74.3.
• Rice is connecting on just 38.6% from the floor and 31.3% from three. Its opponents are shooting 43.1% from the field but are being held to just 31.6% from beyond the arc.
• The Owls are grabbing 39.2 rebounds per game, which is second in the league while allowing 37.7.
• Head coach Scott Pera is in his first season leading the Rice men’s basketball program after serving its last three years as its Associate Head Coach.

Scouting UT-Arlington
• UT-Arlington is 5-1 on the season and have won three straight games after defeating UT-Dallas, 73-53, Monday night. The Mavericks are receiving votes in both the Associated Press and USA Today/Coaches’ Polls.
• Senior forward Kevin Hervey is second in the Sun Belt Conference with 22.4 points and is fourth in rebounding with 8.0 rebounds. He is also third in free throw percentage (.900), fifth in rebounds (8.0), tied for seventh in field goal percentage (.500) and tied for 10th in three-pointers per game (2.4).
• Graduate center Johnny Hamilton is second on the squad with 14.8 points. He also leads the league in field goal percentage (.708) and blocks (2.8) and is tied for second in rebounds (8.7).
• Senior guard Erick Neal is averaging 14.0 points per game while leading the country in assists per game (11.8). He also leads the Sun Belt in minutes played (34.4) and is second in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.5).
• Senior guard Kaelon Wilson is also averaging 12.5 points per game.
• The Mavericks are scoring 84.5 points per game while allowing 73.3.
• UTA is connecting on a league-best 52.0% from the field and 39.4% from three while allowing its opponents to hit just 40.2% from the floor and 30.4% from beyond the arc.
• UT-Arlington is outrebounding its opponents, 37.8-to-32.0.
• The Mavericks are also leading the conference in free throw percentage (.741) and block (5.7) while placing second in assists (19.2).
• Head coach Scott Cross is in his 12th season at the helm of the UT-Arlington men’s basketball program where he owns a 209-141 (.597) record.

Series History
• Rice and UT-Arlington will meet for just the sixth time.
• UTA holds a 3-2 record in the series and has won the last three meetings.
• Rice is looking for its first victory in the series since a 78-69 win on Dec. 13, 1975.
• UT-Arlington won the only other meeting in Arlington, an 81-80 decision on Dec. 3, 1979.
