HOUSTON- Rice closes its five-game homestand this Sunday, Nov. 29, when it hosts UT Arlington. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT.
This is just the fifth meeting all-time between the two schools and the first since 1979. The series is tied at two with UTA winning that last two.
Rice is looking for its third straight win, as it enters today’s game with a 2-4 record.
Redshirt sophomore Egor Koulechov is third in the league in scoring, averaging 17.2 points per game. He also leads the team in rebounding with 6.7 points and is tied for league lead with 3.0 three-pointers made per game. Freshman Marcus Evans is tied for fourth in Conference USA in scoring, averaging 17.2 points. He is also tied for 14th in steals (1.3).
Freshman Marquez Letcher-Ellis is third on the team with 9.7 points while grabbing 4.0 rebounds. He is connecting on 52.6% from the field. Senior Max Guercy is averaging 7.8 points. He is also second in the league in assists (6.1).
Rice is averaging 72.0 points per game while allowing 83.5. The Owls are connecting on just 42.1% from the field and 30.2% from the three-point line while allowing 48.2% from the field and 42.2% from beyond the arc. Rice is also second in the conference in free throw percentage, connecting on 73.2% from the charity stripe.
UT Arlington enters the game with a 4-1 record. The Mavericks have won their last three games after defeating Grambling State, 73-40, last Wednesday.
UTA is led by sophomore forward Kevin Hervey with 15.8 points, which is seventh in the Sun Belt Conference. He is also tied for fourth in rebounding, grabbing 8.0 boards per game and is eighth in free throw percentage (.842).
Sophomore guard Erick Neal is second on the team with 12.0 points. He is fourth in the Sun Belt in assists (3.8) and is tied for eighth in steal (1.6). Junior guard Jalen Jones is averaging 10.0 points.
UT Arlington averaging 71.8 points per game while allowing just 64.8. The Mavs are connecting on 36.4% from the floor and just 24.1% from three. UTA is allowing 38.4% from the field and 30.5% from three. UTA leads the Sun Belt in rebounding, pulling down 46.2 boards per game and allowing 41.2.
