HOUSTON — Following his first game in over a year, Marcus Jackson was named the Conference USA Player of the Week by College Sports Madness, the publication announced Monday morning.
Jackson scored 19 points and dished out a career-high eight assists. He was 4-of-8 from the floor, 2-5 from three and 9-of-10 from the free throw line. The Acton, Calif., native moved into 23rd-place on Rice’s career assist list with 182, passing David Willie (1987-91). He also moved into eighth-place on the school’s free throw percentage list, connecting on 80.4% in his career.
The redshirt junior’s performance helped Rice to a 94-70 season-opening win at James Madison, it’s first road season-opening victory since 1999 and the largest Road win since defeating UTEP in 2002.
