Men's Basketball Opens Practice

Oct. 14, 2012

Rice University men's basketball officially opened fall practice on Saturday with a spirited two-hour workout at Fox Gym.

The Owls' season opener looms four weeks away as the squad began its preparations for the 2012-13 campaign in earnest.

Head coach Ben Braun put the team through rigorous defensive drills at the practice, as several newcomers began to acclimate to the program.

Offensively, emphasis was placed on nall control and finishing through contact.

Returning starters Tamir Jackson and Julian DeBose led the team through conditioning and drills,

Jackson, the lone senior returning from last year's 19-win squad, will be relied on to duplicate the success of his junior season.

See below for an interview with Coach Braun, including brief highlights from Saturday's practice.
