HOUSTON-- Junior Marcus Jackson was named Preseason All-Conference USA by both C-USA and College Sports Madness, announced Wednesday afternoon.
Jackson earned All-Conference USA by a vote of the league's coaches. He was also named Third Team All-CUSA by College Sports Madness.
The Acton, Calif., native is the squad's leading returning scorer, averaging 14.5 points per game last year which was 12th in Conference USA. He also pulled down 3.5 rebounds and added 2.7 assists while starting 31 of 32 games.
Jackson led the league in the three-pointers made (85 -- 2.7 pg), was third in free throw percentage (.831) and was ninth in three-point field goal percentage (.397). His 85 three-pointers last year are the second most for a season in school history.
Rice was picked to finish seventh in the league. Reigning C-USA champion UAB was picked to win the league for a second straight year, garnering 11 first-place votes. Old Dominion picked up the other three first place votes as it was picked to finish in second-place.
