Men's Basketball Television Slate Announced
Owls to have seven games broadcast

Rice University men’s basketball and Conference USA announced the television schedule for the upcoming 2012-13 season on Tuesday. The Owls will play seven nationally and regionally televised contests during the regular season, including three league matchups.
Beginning in late November, the Owls play three nationally televised contests at the Anaheim Classic. Rice’s first-round tilt with Georgia Tech will air on ESPNU on Nov. 22 at 8 p.m. CT.
The following day, Rice will take on either Cal or Drake on ESPN2 or ESPNU at the event. Both ESPN2 and ESPNU will cover the final round of Anaheim Classic games, as well as the network’s online home, ESPN3.
The Blue and Gray close out the 2012 calendar year on the Longhorn Network on Dec. 29 at Texas, before dipping into the conference season.
The first of two-straight Conference USA games to be carried by CSS is Jan. 12 at Tulsa. The Owls then return home to host Memphis on Jan. 16. Rice plays its third CSS game on Jan. 26 at Tulane.
The Owls have picked up six wins in televised contests over the past two years, including victories over Houston, LSU, Memphis and Texas A&M.
The 2012-13 campaign tips off on Nov. 10 at Tudor Fieldhouse against the University of St. Thomas. The 7 p.m. contest is the first of 16 regular season home contests for head coach Ben Braun’s squad.
Last season, the Owls won 19 games and advanced to the CollegeInsider.com Tournament quarterfinals.
