HOUSTON — The Scott Pera era began this morning as the Rice men’s basketball team held its first practice in Fox Gym in preparation for the 2017-18 season.

Pera returns seven letterwinners from last year’s team that won 23 games, the second most in school history, and advanced to the quarterfinals of the College Basketball Invitational. Rice also added seven newcomers.

“It’s an exciting time,” said Pera. “I thought our energy was great. Our guys are really locked in. We’re working on all the details and the little things that matter in becoming a good team. But, they play together and they work really hard.”

Rice begins the 2017-18 campaign on Nov. 4 when it hosts Wayland Baptist in an exhibition game. The regular season begins on Nov. 10 against Eastern Kentucky.

Season tickets are available by calling 713.348.OWLS (6957) or by clicking here.
