2014 Rice University graduate and single-season three-point record holder Austin Ramljak announced on Tuesday that he has signed a contract with Club Xuventude Baloncesto in Cambados, Spain.
In two seasons at Rice, Ramljak was honored as the 2012-13 Conference USA Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men's basketball and earned NABC Honors Court recognition for academic excellence in 2013 and ’14. The Thousand Oaks, Calif. native left his mark in the Rice record book with the single-season record for three-pointers made (89) in 2013-14 and posted the second-longest streak of games with a three-pointer in program history (35).
Ramljak was a two-time Conference USA All-Academic Team member and C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll member. He finished his senior campaign ranked in the top seven in C-USA in three-point percentage (39.6) and three-pointers per game (3.07), and placed 20th nationally in three-pointers per contest. He was also Rice's scoring average leader with 11.6 points per game and started all 29 games played.
The team competes in LEB Plata after gaining promotion from Liga EBA two seasons ago as champion. The regular season runs from early October through March with the playoffs extending from April to May.
Cambados is located in the northwest province of Pontevedra.
