Rice Director of Athletics Joe Karlgaard announced on Thursday that video productions at Tudor Fieldhouse will be upgraded to provide network quality HD output to Conference USA’s broadcast and web streaming partners as well as to CUSAtv. Upgrades will be completed in time for the start of the 2017-18 men’s and women’s basketball seasons.
“These upgrades will allow us to produce our own HD broadcasts in men’s and women’s basketball for our current Conference USA partners ESPN3 and Campus Insiders,” Karlgaard said. “We are excited to offer this upgrade to our fan base for the upcoming season.”
The improvements will include all new HD infrastructure that will meet or exceed all current broadcast standards and allow the Owls to produce multiple sporting events simultaneously.
The upgrades at Tudor are the latest in a series of improvements in the Owls video production capacity which began with the opening of the Brian Patterson Center at Rice Stadium in August of 2016. Rice produced a pair of football games in the 2016 season for ESPN3. Work is currently in the final stages to bring video productions at Reckling Park into compliance with network standards
