Charlotte's Hot Second Half Shooting Dooms Owls
Charlotte shot 70.6% in the second half to turn Rice's 10-point halftime lead into a 102-73 defeat, Thursday night at Halton Arena.

HOUSTON — Rice begins its final weekend of the season this Thursday, Mar. 3, when it hosts Charlotte. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.

Series History
• Rice and Charlotte will meet for just the fifth time.
• The Owls hold a 2-2 record in the series.
• In Houston, the series is tied 1-1.
• This is the second meeting this year between the teams. Rice fell, 102-73, in Charlotte on Feb. 11.

Scouting Rice
• Rice enters today’s game with a 12-17 record and is 7-9 in Conference USA. The Owls have won four out of five games after falling 88-69 at Louisiana Tech last Saturday.
• Freshman Marcus Evans is second in Conference USA in scoring and 19th in the nation, averaging 20.8 points per game. He leads the league in steals (2.1) and is tied for ninth in minutes played (33.1).
• Redshirt sophomore Egor Koulechov is sixth in the conference in scoring, averaging 17.1 points while leading the team with 7.1 rebounds, which is good for 10th in the league. He is third in C-USA in free throw percentage (.851) and three-pointers made (2.6) and fourth in minutes played (34.4).
• Freshman Marquez Letcher-Ellis is third on the team with 10.4 points and second with 5.1 rebounds. He is also eighth in C-USA with 1.1 blocks.
• Freshman Connor Cashaw is averaging 8.8 points and is 10th in the conference in three-point field goal percentage (.402).
• Senior Max Guercy is averaging 7.3 points. He leads the league in free throw percentage (.869), is second in assists (5.7) and seventh in minutes played (33.5).
• Rice is averaging 76.4 points per game while allowing 80.5.
• The Owls are connecting on 44.9% from the field and just 32.5% from the three-point line while allowing 48.4% from the field and 41.1% from beyond the arc.
• Rice leads Conference USA in free throw percentage, connecting on 73.8%.

Scouting Charlotte
• Charlotte enters the game with a 12-17 record. The 49ers are 8-8 in Conference USA and have won two straight after defeating UTEP, 88-78, last Saturday.
• Junior guard Braxton Ogbueze leads the team with 13.6 points. He leads C-USA in three-pointers made per game (3.1), is fourth in three-point field goal percentage (.425) and sixth in minutes played (33.6).
• Senior center Joseph Uchebo is averaging 12.9 points. He leads the conference with 11.3 rebounds, which is also ninth in the country, and is fourth in field goal percentage (.589).
• Freshman guard Jon Davis is scoring 11.5 points per game and is fifth in the league with 4.7 assists.
• Freshman guard Andrien White is averaging 11.4 points. He is third in the league in steals (1.6), fifth in three-point field goal percentage (.424) and eighth in three pointers made per game (2.2).
• Freshman guard Curran Scott is scoring 10.4 points and is seventh in C-USA in free throw percentage (.831).
• Charlotte is averaging 78.6 points per game while allowing 80.3.
• The 49ers are connecting on 44.7% from the field and 38.7% from three, which is second in Conference USA, while allowing 48.0% from the floor and 40.7% from three, which leads Conference USA.
• Mark Price is in his first season at the helm of the Charlotte basketball program, where he has a 12-17 (.414) record.
