For his outstanding performance on Saturday at Harvard, Max Guercy earned Conference USA Freshman of the Week honors on Monday. The guard was joined as a weekly honoree by Memphis' Joe Jackson, who was named the league's Player of the Week.
The Arleta, Calif. native led the Owls with 19 points on 6-of-8 shooting at Harvard. In addition to his career high in points, the guard dished out a season-best five assists to pace the team.
Guercy sank all four three-point attempts on the afternoon and hauled in one rebound in addition to swiping a steal in Rice's (3-10) only game of the week.
For the season, he averages 8.5 points, ranks second on the team with 1.8 assists per contest and shoots a team-high 42.1 percent from downtown.
The Owls return home on Wednesday to open league play against Southern Miss at 7 p.m.
