Scott McLafferty is in his fifth season on South Main and enters his third year as the Associate Director of Strength and Conditioning for the Rice athletic program.

During his tenure at Rice, McLafferty has received additional responsibilities. He originally came to Rice as a strength and conditioning coordinator. He was promoted to associate director after his second year on campus.

As associate director, McLafferty has daily responsibilities working with the Rice football team. He also has oversight of the Owl basketball team's strength and conditioning training and oversees the strength training for the Rice baseball team's pitching staff.

The Stillwater, Okla., native came to Rice from Louisiana Tech where he worked with the football, soccer and softball programs his first season before assuming duties as the men's basketball strength and conditioning coach his last two years.

McLafferty also served as a student assistant at Oklahoma State. McLafferty is a 2007 graduate of Louisiana Tech.

Over the summer McLafferty married the former Sarah Berger.
