The dates and times for the 2009 Rice Owls Winter Baseball Camps have been set. Beat the rush and sign your youth up early to get the jump on 2010.

The winter camps are a unique gift idea for the Holidays!

2009 Rice Owls Winter Baseball Camps (Two-day Specialty Camps)
All sessions are $125 per camper.

Pitching/Catching Camp
Camp Overview: Emphasis of this camp is on pitching form and defense. Pitchers will learn proper grip, arm action and overall mechanics as well as defensive instruction in areas such as fielding bunts and holding runners on base. Catchers will be instructed on the mechanics of receiving pitches, blocking, throwing and basic catching techniques.

Three sessions offered for ages 13-18

  • Sat-Sun. December 19-20, 9-11:30 am
  • Mon-Tues. December 21-22, 9-11:30 am
  • Mon-Tues. December 28-29, 9-11:30 am

    Three sessions offered for ages 7-13
  • Sat-Sun. December 19-20, 12:15-2:45 pm
  • Mon-Tues. December 21-22, 12:15-2:45 pm
  • Mon-Tues. December 28-29, 12:15-2:45 pm

    Hitting Camp
    Camp Overview: The art of hitting will be addressed through drill work and evaluation of each camper's swing. In addition to general mechanics, areas of emphasis will include situational offense, bunting, and the mental aspect of hitting.

    Three sessions offered for ages 13-18
  • Sat-Sun. December 19-20, 12:15-2:45 pm
  • Mon-Tues. December 21-22, 12:15-2:45 pm
  • Mon-Tues. December 28-29, 12:15-2:45 pm

    Three sessions offered for ages 7-13
  • Sat-Sun. December 19-20, 9-11:30 am
  • Mon-Tues. December 21-22, 9-11:30 am
  • Mon-Tues. December 28-29, 9-11:30 am

    Defensive Edge
    Camp Overview: This camp is designed to teach the fundamentals of infield and outfield play. Emphasis will be placed on anticipation of defensive situations, proper routes, jumps to the ball, footwork, and throwing techniques. Three sessions will be offered for ages 7-18. Participants will be grouped according to age and skill level.
