The outside temperature may have been on the chilly side, but the warmth of the Owl supporters made Sunday’s third-annual Rice Baseball FanFest another great afternoon at Reckling Park.
Rice baseball’s fans were out in force, interacting and getting autographs from the Owls, taking player-guided tours of Reckling Park, and enjoying the unique opportunity of batting practice against former major league great Andy Pettitte - the father of former Owl pitcher Josh Pettitte and a winner of more than 250 major league games after playing for Rice head coach Wayne Graham when the Owls' skipper was at San Jacinto College.
Now in his 27th season at the helm of the program, Coach Graham has led Rice to 21 conference titles in the last 22 years. Rice has been to the NCAA Tournament in each of the last 23-straight years, now the third-longest active streak in the nation.
The 2018 Rice baseball season begins Friday, February 16, vs. Samford in the UCF Tournament in Orlando, Fla.
