Feb. 11, 2015

Rice baseball will return to the broadcast airwaves for nine games in 2015 as part of an agreement between Rice IMG Sports Properties and ESPN Deportes Houston (1180 am). The slate of games begins on Opening Day on Friday, when the Owls host the Texas Longhorns at Reckling Park at 6 p.m.

J.P. Heath, the Voice of the Owls, will once again call the action for the Rice baseball broadcasts, both over the air on ESPN Deportes and on the Owls' internet broadcasts for the remainder of the 2015 schedule. All 2015 broadcasts will also be available online at

The nine games mark the first time since 2010 that Owls Baseball has been available on radio.

"Thanks to the great work of our partner Rice IMG Sports Properties, we are excited to once again offer Rice Baseball over the air to all the great sports fans of Houston," said Tanner Gardner, Rice Senior Associate Athletic Director & Chief Revenue Officer. "We felt it was a key element to our overall strategy to bring Rice Athletics to the widest possible audience."

The nine games selected include six home games and three road contests with five games slated for Fridays and four others on Tuesday nights. The openers of the Owls' home series with Texas and Stanford will both be broadcast as will road contests with TCU (March 3) and Texas A&M (April 7). It also includes a pair of games with crosstown rivals Houston (April 14 & May 12). Each broadcast will be preceded by a 15-minute pregame show.
