A pleasant time was had by all at the Rice Baseball Program's 2016 FanFest. In addition to getting the autographs of their favorite Owl players, fans had a unique opportunity to take batting practice from two former major leaguers with ties to the Rice baseball program - Jose Cruz Jr., and Andy Pettitte.

In addition to a 12-year major league career, three-time All-America Jose Cruz Jr. was inducted into the Rice Athletics Hall of Fame in 2003. Pettitte won more than 250 major league games after playing for Rice head coach Wayne Graham when the Owls' skipper was at San Jacinto College. Pettitte's oldest son, Josh, is a sophomore pitcher for the Owls.
