Feb. 4, 2014
HOUSTON - With the first pitch of the season less than two weeks away, single-game tickets for the 2014 edition of Rice Owls Baseball are now on sale (Feb. 4).
Fans can purchase single-game tickets (as well as season tickets) at the Rice Athletics Ticket Office in Tudor Fieldhouse, by calling 713-522-OWLS, or online at the above link. The Athletics Ticket Office is open weekdays from 8:30 am to 5 pm. Single general admission tickets are priced as low as $10 for adults and $5 for youths.
On-line ticket purchases are available 24-hours a day. Note that fans will need to use their Ticketmaster login info, not their Rice Account Manager login to purchase single game tickets. This is a change from in previous years. Season tickets are still on sale, and can guarantee discounted priced tickets in the same seat for every game as well as invitations to special events throughout the year.
Rice welcomes a host of talented opponents to Reckling Park, including Texas, Texas A&M, Houston, TCU, Purdue, Lamar, Sam Houston State, Texas State, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Houston Baptist. Conference USA rivals that visit Rice this season are East Carolina, Florida Atlantic, Louisiana Tech, Old Dominion and UAB.
Tickets for home games against Texas (April 1) and Texas A&M (April 22) will initially be available as part of a Flex Plan only. Single-game tickets for those two games will be released at a later date, and based on availability. The Flex Plan allows fans to choose either the Texas or Texas A&M game, and then up to two remaining home games - a great bargain for another great season of Rice Owls baseball.
The 2014 Owls return six offensive starters in the batting order and ten veteran pitchers who helped lead last year's squad to a 44-20 overall record. Under the direction of head coach Wayne Graham, Rice baseball has made 19-straight trips to the NCAA Tournament and won 18-straight conference championships - including titles that were won in the regular season and/or conference tournament. The Blue & Gray won both the C-USA regular season and tournament championships in 2013. Now in his 23rd year at the helm of the program, Graham's Owls have won at least 40 games in each of the last 19 seasons.
The baseball team's home-opener is set for Feb. 18 against longtime rival Texas State at 4:30 pm. There are a total of 27 home games at Reckling Park, as well as another five games the team will play in the greater Houston area including Minute Maid Park and Constellation Field in Sugar Land.
Rice Athletics is continuing its out-reach to local grade schools, youth teams, community groups, and non-profit organizations. Groups could be eligible to have an additional fan experience, such as singing the national anthem at Reckling Park, national anthem buddies, throwing a ceremonial first pitch or recognition during breaks between innings. Group tickets start as low as $8. Please call Rice at 713-522-OWLS (6957) or email here.
