At Rice -- 2015: All-Conference USA (first team); Two-time C-USA Pitcher of the Week (April 6 and May 11)… Worked his way back to a solid all-conference caliber season and starter’s role after being sidelined most of 2014… Finished among the C-USA league leaders with 75 strikeouts (7th), a .229 opponents’ batting average (8th) and 3.17 ERA (13th)… Began the year in the Owl bullpen so that he could slowly build up pitch-counts and get game-action on a predetermined work schedule... Pitched in 17 games overall… Made six relief appearances before eventually finishing third on the staff with 11 starts… Averaged 11.3 strikeouts per 9.0 innings and had a strikeouts-to-walks ratio of 4.4-to-1… Maintained a 1.21 WHIP that was the second-best on the staff… In a May 8 start on the road against nationally-ranked and NCAA Regional-bound Florida Atlantic, he fired 6.2 shutout innings while scattering three hits and a walk with one hit batsman. He also tied a season-high with eight strikeouts and held all FAU hitters to a composite .143 batting average… Posted eight strikeouts in 6.0 shutout frames in an April 5 start against (then) first place foe Middle Tennessee… Hand-picked as the Owls’ ‘go-to’ starting pitcher when the team had to play in the elimination game of the NCAA Tournament… Pitched a total of 24.2 innings against the elite teams that made the NCAA Tournament, where he maintained a steady 2.55 ERA... 2014: A preseason all-Conference USA honoree who was set for a big junior campaign, but was sidelined for the rest of the year after only three weeks of action... Started the season-opener at Stanford and was the "Friday night" pitcher for each of the first three games of the season... Worked 5.0 innings and struck out five at Stanford to earn his first win of the season... Returned the next week and allowed one run while striking out seven in 7.0 innings to earn a win over Purdue... Third start was on Feb. 28 vs. eventual College World Series participant Texas in front of more than 5,900 fans at Minute Maid Park... Was coasting along with three strikeouts in 2.0 scoreless innings against the Longhorns when he removed himself from the contest... Pitched a complete game four-hitter on the road at Hawaii, scattering four singles and a walk while striking out ten (then a career-high)... Posted remaining wins against Harvard and C-USA foes Southern Miss, Tulane, Marshall and UCF in the conference tournament... Primary stats as the No. 2 weekend pitcher in conference games were a 4-2 record, 2.92 ERA and .238 opponents' average in team-high 52.1 innings... Made two appearances three days apart in the C-USA Tournament that added-up to just one earned run on three hits and two walks in a total of 9.0 innings... Left the NCAA Super Regional road game at No. 4 ranked NC State with a 2-1 lead in the seventh inning, only to see the Owls lose the game by one run in the 17th inning (which brought the 2013 season to an end)... Final stats in four postseason outings were a 2-0 record, 0.74 ERA and .165 opponents' average in team-high 24.1 innings... Almost lost in the dynamic starts are the quiet but critical four times he came out of the bullpen for a situational out or inning in midweek games... Picked-up first career save with 1.1 shutout innings against future C-USA foe La Tech... Recorded a 1.80 ERA in 5.0 innings over four relief appearances, striking out seven without allowing any walks... Though both complete game shutouts and all three double-digit strikeout games were on the road, his most consistent outings are all right at Reckling Park where he maintained a composite 1.95 ERA and 1.05 WHIP in 55.1 home innings... 2012: Most Outstanding Player, Houston College Classic ; Caught the coaches' attention in the fall practices (2011) and earned the No. 3 starting spot in the opening series of the season... Went on to pitch in 14 games in debut season of Division I baseball... Finished fourth on the team with eight starts... Was seventh on the staff in strikeouts (40)... Extended the scoreless streak to 18.0-straight the next weekend with another 4.1 innings against Grambling... Made six appearances out of the bullpen, where he held opposing hitters to a tough .182 average... Struck out four in 3.0 hitless innings against eventual NCAA Tournament participant Sam Houston State.
