At Rice -- 2014: Had his best season yet with greater contributions to the team... Played 35 games overall and worked his way into the starting lineup 17 times... Made 15 starts the outfield (14 in center and one in right field), and started twice as the designated hitter... Served as pinch-runner seven times, as a defensive substitute in the outfield five times, and as a pinch-hitter/new designated hitter three times, and as a relief pitcher three times... Batted as high as fifth in the lineup... Pinch ran and scored on opening day at Stanford, then remained in the game as the new DH and tripled-in a run on the way to the Owls' 10-3 victory... Started each of the next three games and proceeded to post consecutive two-hit games in each outing to build a .438 average (7-for-16) through the first four games of the season... Drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the eleventh inning of the home-opener vs. Texas State, securing the 1,000th Rice victory for head coach Wayne Graham...
