Rice -- All-Silver Glove Series team for the season-long best-of-five games vs. crosstown rival Houston; Played in 41 games with 13 starts to tie a career-high... Started 12 games in the outfield (eight in center, three in right and once in left)... Made one start at third base (vs. Kentucky at Minute Maid Park)... Batted leadoff seven times, the second-most for an Owl in the top spot in the order... Played as a defensive substitute in the outfield 16 times... Appeared in 15 games as a pinch-runner... Led the team with 22 games played as a sub, including 14 as a pinch-runner, five as pinch-hitter, two as a defensive replacement in the outfield and once as the new DH... Came off the bench to bat for eventual major league draft pick Chad Mozingo against crosstown foe Texas Southern and drove a pinch-hit double down the left field line and later scored... Scored 10 times, nine of which were in games he entered as a pinch-runner... Pinch-ran at Houston in the Silver Glove Series and stole a base in his only attempt...
