Rice -- 2010: Conference USA Academic Honor Roll; Played in 23 games with one start as the designated hitter (at home against Dallas Baptist)... Led the team with 22 games played as a sub, including 14 as a pinch-runner, five as pinch-hitter, two as a defensive replacement in the outfield and once as the new DH... Came off the bench to bat for eventual major league draft pick Chad Mozingo against crosstown foe Texas Southern and drove a pinch-hit double down the left field line and later scored... Scored 10 times, nine of which were in games he entered as a pinch-runner... Pinch-ran at Houston in the Silver Glove Series and stole a base in his only attempt... Drew a walk and was twice hit by a pitch for a .333 on-base average... 2009: Conference USA Academic Honor Roll; Played in 21 games with 13 starts as a freshman... Made four starts in right field and nine as the designated hitter... Posted the second-highest batting average on the team (.360) behind Anthony Rendon... Had the highest average (.472) among the ten different Owls who batted as the designated hitter... Began his Rice career hitting safely in each of his first six games at the Division I level...
