Rice -- 2011: Most Valuable Player of the C-USA Championship; Finished second on the team, and third in Conference USA, in appearances (30)... Shared the team lead, and tied for third in the league, with eight wins... Posted saves against C-USA foes Tulane and Memphis... Finished eighth in the conference in strikeouts (76)... Averaged a team-leading 11.3 strikeouts per 9.0 innings pitched... Maintained a 4.2-to-1 strikeouts-to-walks ratio... Held opposing hitters to a composite .230 batting average, a mark that shrank to .203 when there were two outs recorded in the inning and just .175 when runners were on base... Named the MVP of the C-USA Championship after two brilliant career outings over a three-day span... Pitched a total of 9.0 innings at the C-USA tourney, scattering six singles with no walks and striking out eight... Made first career start on the road against the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns and allowed just one run in a predetermined 3.0 innings of work... Pitched 2.0 or more innings a total of 15 different times... Played in the prestigious Cape Cod League (Falmouth) over the summer... 2010: Appeared in 26 games, all in relief... Pitched in the most games of any Rice freshman... Led the staff in saves (4) and was second in games finished (15)... Notched saves against Texas Tech and Conference USA foes UCF and East Carolina (twice)...
