Frequently Asked Questions | Athletic Awards and Scholarships
An endowed scholarship is a way that our fans can support the future of Rice Student-Athletes. An endowment can be created and named with a gift of $50,000 or more. The principal amount is invested, and a percentage of the interest earned each year is given to deserving student-athletes.
Scholarships can be named in honor or memory of a loved one or a favorite coach, and can be paid for either all at once or in installments over a five-year period.
Endowed scholarships allow Rice Athletics to preserve its history while, likewise, investing in the future of our student-athletes.
Creating and naming an endowed scholarship ensures that our student-athletes receive an education of the highest quality, enabling them to continue the traditions of the University.
To this date, our athletic scholarship endowment consists of approximately 200 individual endowment funds and is currently valued at more than $30 million. Through this endowment we are able to provide significant scholarship assistance to our student-athletes.
