Maurice Wharton was named the assistant athletic director of ticket operations on January 24, 2011. His broad range of responsibilities include supervision of event planning and game day operations, staffing and event reconciliation, as well as the hosting of possible postseason competitions. Wharton will also oversee the online/gameday ticket sales on a daily basis and day to day operations of the ticket office.
Prior to joining Rice, Wharton was employed at Georgetown University in Washington, DC as the ticket manager from 2007-11 managing the ticket sales and operations for football, women's basketball, men's and women's lacrosse as well as assisting with men's basketball.
Before Georgetown, Wharton was at Robert Morris University as a graduate assistant for marketing and ticketing in the Colonials athletic department while earning his M.S. in Education and a B.S. in sports management from Delaware State University.
A native of Newark, New Jersey, Wharton currently resides in Houston.
