Shawn Ready is concluding his fourth year with the Rice athletic training staff. He serves as the Associate Athletic Trainer for football. He came to Rice from Coffeyville Community College in Coffeyville, Kansas where he was the Head Athletic Trainer covering all 17 NJCAA sports.
Shawn is a native of Mason, Illinois and has a Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology and Sports Studies with a concentration in Athletic Training from Eastern Illinois University. During his time at EIU he interned with the New England Patriots and Biomax Rehabilitation along with the EIU sports medicine assignments given. He moved on to Texas State University-San Marcos where he received his Masters of Science in Athletic Training working with baseball and assisting with cheer and dance.
Shawn is a member of the NATA, SWATA, CATS and GHATS as well as the NSCA. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA as well as holds his Crossfit Level 1 Coaching Certificate. He is one of the 2 primary preceptors for Rice, working with 3-5 University of Houston Masters of Athletic Training students per semester.
Personally he spends his free time volunteering with Justin Sports Medicine Team, fishing, diving and Olympic/ Power Lifting. He resides in Houston with his Scottish Terrier, Wyatt Earp.
