Obie Benavides is in his third year as an athletic trainer at Rice University, working with the football program.
Prior to Rice, he was a student athletic trainer at Texas Tech University- Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, TX, working with two local high schools and Texas Tech football. He also did a summer internship with Texas A&M football. He earned a master’s of athletic training in May of 2014, and is currently working towards a Doctorate of Athletic Training.
Benavides earned his bachelor's degree in kinesiology from the University of North Texas in May of 2012. He is trained in Systemic Dry Needling and is a Certified Speed and Agility Coach. Obie is certified by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification, as well as licensed by the state of Texas.
