Chad Kocian started at Rice Athletics in the summer of 2011 as the department's Assistant Athletic Director for Sales and Marketing and was promoted to Associate AD for Marketing and Sales in May of 2013.
Kocian came to the South Main school from the National Senior Games, where he served in a variety of capacities including the national director for marketing and sponsor relations.
Previously, he worked as the athletics marketing coordinator at Louisiana State. While at LSU he managed all aspects of marketing for all varsity sports, including football, basketball and baseball, setting attendance records in all three. Furthermore, he developed the group ticket sales programs and worked with men's and women's basketball, as the two squads made their final four runs.
Before LSU, Kocian coached Texas high school football in Corpus Christi. A native of LaGrange, Texas, Chad graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in kinesiology in 2000 and earned a master's degree in sports management from LSU (2006).
Chad and his wife, Bethany, reside in Houston.
