Andy Platt, assistant athletics director for business & finance at Rice, was named to the Executive Committee as 3rd Vice President/Secretary for the College Athletic Business Management Association for the 2012-13 year.
"I'm honored to be elected by my peers to this important committee," said Platt. "CABMA has allowed me to grow as a professional and I've made lifelong friendships as a result of the opportunities its provided me. This is a way for me to give back to the association and am looking forward to serving in this role."
CABMA is an organization focusing on the establishment, maintenance and implementation of the highest standards of integrity and efficiency in the scope, policies and procedures involved in the management and administration of business in the athletics departments and associations of colleges and universities. CABMA is administered by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), which is in its 48th year. CABMA is one of 13 associations that fall under the NACDA umbrella.
Andy Platt was named assistant athletics director for business and finance in July 2011, and is in his second year at Rice.
Platt was named the Rookie of the Year by the College Athletic Business Management Association in 2008, which is given in recognition of outstanding contributions to the profession of college athletic business management.
