Athletics News Unveils New Design

July 16, 2015, the official website of Rice Athletics, unveiled a new design on Thursday, one that embraced some of the latest innovations in web design and functionality while also incorporating the input of a wide spectrum of stakeholders in the program.

The updated features a responsive design, which ensures an optimized and consistent presentation for the user no matter if they are accessing the site from their desktop, laptop, tablet or through a smartphone.

“The launch of our new design is a culmination of many months of great work, led by our Director of Branding Katie Schmidt,” said Tanner Gardner, Senior Associate AD / Chief Revenue Officer. “Throughout the process, we spent time collecting feedback from a number of constituents as well as analyzing current usage patterns to ensure we delivered a site that increasingly meets the needs of our supporters. We believe the refreshed provides an upgraded, first-class user experience.”

“It’s exciting for this months-long process to come to fruition,” Schmidt said. “Our goal has always been to design a cleaner, more intuitive site that will allow our content—the story of our outstanding student-athletes—to better shine. continues to provide Owls fans with complete information on all Rice athletic programs. The website helps update fans through audio and video coverage, rosters, schedules, photos and official news from the Athletic Department. Fans can follow Rice athletic events in real time with College Network's exclusive GameTrackerTM technology, giving users a realtime game experience with statistics and play-by-play of the Owls.

Rice University is an official partner of College Network, the leader in the delivery of integrated multimedia solutions and internet services for University Athletic Departments, Conferences and Associations. College Network has hosted the Rice official athletic web site since 2005 and the partnership will continue to bring fans the most in-depth coverage of Rice sports across multiple platforms.
