Rice student-athletes established a Conference USA record as 227 Owls are among 2,027 student-athletes to earn recognition to the Commissioner's Honor Roll during the 2009-10 academic year, Commissioner Britton Banowsky announced today. Student-athletes named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better.
The Owls were one of three school in C-USA to produce at least 200 members of the 2009-10 honor roll. UCF followed closely with 221, while Tulsa ranked third with 202 student-athletes on the list. Rounding out the list were ECU (188), SMU (183), Marshall (169), Memphis (166), UAB (131), Southern Miss (122), UTEP (119), Tulane (118) and Houston (117).
Student-athletes with a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or better also receive the Commissioner's Academic Medal. Those winners will be released tomorrow.
