Canty Joins Owls’ Compliance Team
Director of Compliance Services
Bryan Blair, Rice’s Senior Associate Athletic Director for Sport Administration and Compliance, announced on Wednesday the hiring of Curtis Canty as the Owls’ new Director of Compliance Services.
Canty comes to Rice from Charlotte, where he has been a member of the 49ers compliance staff since 2012. He began as a graduate intern and advanced to become the Assistant Director of Compliance.
"We are extremely excited to have Curtis joining the Rice Athletics family," commented Bryan Blair. "He comes highly recommended and his experience at a Conference USA peer institution will be very beneficial to Rice as we maintain our commitment to integrity."
Canty will assist Blair in all areas of NCAA compliance, with a focus on initial eligibility, monitoring, education, camps/clinics and ACS compliance software.
“I’m very excited to be a member of the Rice family; it is truly an honor to be associated with such a premier academic institution. I hope that my work here will continue to elevate the brand, promote student-athlete excellence and ensure staff success on and off the playing fields.”
Canty is a graduate of Greensboro College where he played football. He received his M.A. in Sports Administration from Wingate University.
