. The Rice Athletic Department continues to look ahead with its strength program. The most tangible evidence of that committment is the John L. Cox Fitness Center, which was completed in December, 1995, on the southeast corner of Rice Stadium. The 8,000-square-foot facility, utilized by all Rice athletes as well as other members of the Rice community, is one of the better-equipped facilities in the nation, giving the Owls another big advantage in Conference USA.
