A Stretch ... And Then The Stretch

Owls lead 8-1 in the middle of the seventh after Haynes gets an inning-ending double play to clean up a mess of his own doing. A pair of singles to open the seventh got the bullpen stirring, but Haynes recovered to induce a foul pop up to Comerota before starting the 1-6-3 double play, with Cometora making the stretch to snag the low throw from Hague.

El Martillo pressing a bit at the plate now that he is seeing a few pitches?

Russell: I was thinking the same thing. You can keep taking the walks or you can endure stretches where you try too hard to hit your way on base. He isn't squaring up on the ball well at all, at least not tonight, and that's out of character for him. - MK

Yeah, I know he hit a HR at the College Classic, but there hasn't been much thunder in that bat the last 4-5 games. I think people are now willing to pitch to him more and he just needs to relax and let it come. Can't believe I'm saying that about AR.

I know he'll be back in the cage tomorrow trying to work out the defects.

Also, can we get some "so fresh, so clean" when he walks to the plate?

Russell: I'm so addled that I haven't even noticed his walk-up music. - MK
