Griswold came to Rice in the fall of 1986, shortly after earning her master's degree in higher education student affairs/counseling from Indiana University. It was then she took charge of monitoring the academic progress of more than 350 Rice student-athletes. From those first few years running the academic ddvising for athletic office single-handedly, Griswold now oversees a staff of three advisors and more than 50 academic tutors.
Griswold reports to Rice Univeristy's Academic Advising office and works with the divisional advisors of each college to help each student-athlete develop individual academic plans and achieve the ultimate goal of graduation. Since she began her work at Rice, Griswold has seen countless student-athletes receive academic honors including nearly 100 Academic All-Americans. Thanks to her and her staff's hard work, the Owls regularly rank among the top 10 in the nation in total graduation rates for athletes.
A 1981 cum laude graduate from Miami University, in Oxford, Ohio, with degrees in mathematics and education, Griswold has an impressive coaching background, including the prestigious Indiana Girl's Basketball State Championship in 1983. While working on her graduate degree at Indiana University, Griswold served as the Hoosiers' academic graduate assistant (1984-86). Currently, she is an associate of Hanszen College and serves on the Division of Undergraduate's Diversity and Inclusion Collaborative. Julie is active in City of Refuge Church, bible study groups and has eight nieces and nephews.

Yeakel started his position at Rice in 2000. Prior to joining the Rice staff, Yeakel was an athletics assistant at Butler University for three years. Yeakel attended Purdue University, graduating in 1993 with a bachelor of arts in political science. While at Purdue, he played under hall of fame head coach Gene Keady on the "Gold Squad" practice team for men's basketball. He then earned a masters of arts in recreation at Indiana University, where he interned with the IU Athletic Department in both the academic and ticket offices. A native of Indiana, Mike resides in Manvel, Texas, with his wife, Nikki, and their children, Logan (2002) and Kylie (2005).

Sartor joined Rice in the summer of 2011. Prior to teaming up with the Owls, Sartor spent four years as an assistant basketball coach at Texas State University where the team won the 2008 Southland Conference regular season title and advanced to the second round of the WNIT. Before she joined the Texas State staff, Sartor spent one season at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) where she helped guide the Crimson Hawks to a 2007 PSAC Conference Championship and a trip to the NCAA Division II Sweet Sixteen.
Previous to IUP, Sartor spent two seasons at Sam Houston State as a graduate assistant coach, completing her master's degree in kinesiology (2006). Sartor also spent two seasons in the junior college ranks coaching at Grayson County College and Kilgore College before her SHSU stint. Both teams reached their respective Regional Tournaments in Sartor's season on the sidelines. Sartor completed her undergraduate degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in teacher education at LeTourneau University (2002). A four-year letter winner at LU, Sartor was twice named an All-Conference Academic selection and helped lead her team to the Regional Tournament three times. She resides with her husband Michael in Houston.

Misha Caylor joined the Rice academic advising team in November 2011. A former collegiate golfer, Misha was a four-time letterwinner at the College of William and Mary in Virginia. After graduating with her B.A. in psychology, she began working as a counselor for children and teens in a residential psychiatric facility. During her three years at the treatment center, Misha completed her M.A. in professional counseling at Liberty University. In August of 2011, she and her husband, Ryan, were married. Misha enjoys attending sporting events, visiting with family and friends, and playing golf.
